Review

The latest Odyssey G9 (2024 revision) has been on my desk for half a year and it supercharges a dual-monitor workflow without the seam. The 49-inch 32:9 panel still equals two 27-inch QHD displays, but Samsung’s new Mini LED backlight delivers 2,000 nits peak HDR and far better local dimming than the original. I keep VS Code, Docker dashboards, and a browser open simultaneously and still have space for Slack and Grafana. The 1000R curve wraps the peripherals into view while remaining comfortable for long coding sessions. 240 Hz refresh makes scrolling and window dragging buttery, and pairing it with G-SYNC freesync compatibility keeps animations tear-free when I sneak in a racing sim. It does demand serious desk depth and a thorough cable plan, and color accuracy out of the box needs a quick calibration, but if you want a single display to replace dual monitors and level up focus, the G9 delivers.

✓ Pros

  • Dual-27-inch workspace on a single panel
  • Mini LED backlight provides excellent HDR and contrast
  • 240 Hz refresh keeps motion smooth
  • 1000R curve boosts immersion and ergonomics

✗ Cons

  • Needs a deep, sturdy desk and cable management
  • Factory color profile benefits from calibration
